Colombo, December 26, 2024. The new Minister of Youth and Sports of Sri Lanka, Honourable Sunil Kumara Gamagem, received the Cuban ambassador at the headquarters of the ministry he heads.
During the meeting, the ambassador explained to the minister about the sporting development that Cuba has achieved after the triumph of the revolution and the massification of sport, as well as the important achievements that the country has obtained in regional and world competitions.
The minister expressed his interest in strengthening ties in this sphere between the two countries.
Present at the meeting were the deputy ministers for youth, Eranga Gunasekara, and for sport, Sugath Thilakarathne, and Maribel Duarte González, first secretary of the Cuban embassy.
