Sri Lankan newspaper published Cuban Foreign Ministry statement on Israeli aggression in the Middle East with a call for peace.

Colombo, October 4, 2024. Sri Lankan digital newspaper Lankaleader published in full in Sinhala and English the statement of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The Israeli aggression in the Middle East must be stopped, in which Cuba, while expressing its solidarity with the nations attacked by Israel, calls for peace, and for negotiations for an immediate ceasefire to avoid further escalation of a conflict that has already cost the lives of tens of thousands of people and has aggravated the humanitarian crisis to alarming levels in populations in the region.

In the statement, Cuba reiterated that peace will only be possible in the Middle East through a comprehensive, lasting and fair solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which includes the creation of a sovereign and independent Palestinian State on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Furthermore, Palestine should be guaranteed full membership in the UN without further delay.
