Colombo, November 21, 2025. Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya received the Cuban Ambassador, Andrés Marcelo González Garrido, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in the country.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the work carried out by the Cuban Ambassador to strengthen relations between the two countries and guarantee the historic ties that have existed for many years.
For his part, the Cuban representative expressed his gratitude for the support and solidarity received from both the Sri Lankan authorities and the general population, who have demonstrated the sympathy and friendship that binds them to Cuba, despite the great distance that separates them, but which is brought closer by mutual respect and affection.
Present at the meeting were Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister, Ratnasingam Kohularangan, Director General of the Latin America and Caribbean Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maribel Duarte González, First Secretary of the Cuban Embassy, and other officials from the Prime Minister's office.
