The Star newspaper highlights the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, February 4 - The Star newspaper, published in full the message sent by the Cuban ambassador to Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández on the occasion of commemorating on February 6, the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Malaysia.

The message recall the development of ties from the accreditation of the first Cuban ambassador in that country, Dr Mario García Inchaústegui, to the present and enhances the role of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro alongside the then and current Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in the consolidation of the bilateral relationship, which has been based on mutual respect.

The ambassador underlines in the letter, the new possibilities that the Cuban and Malaysian businessmen open, the update of the Cuban economic model and invites the country's business sector to explore the opportunities that Cuba offers.

The collaboration during these years has been present in the field of education, health, culture, sports and biotechnology. Likewise, the relationship has been characterized by a high level of coincidence in international forums.

Since the opening of the Cuban mission in Kuala Lumpur, five Cuban ambassadors have accredited themselves to the Malaysian authorities.

A group of activities have been programmed by the Cuban Embassy  and the malaysians authorities to commemorate the event.
