Havana, May 6, 2026
To parliamentarians, parliaments, and inter-parliamentary organizations:
The deputies who are members of the Commission on International Relations of the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba reject the new Executive Order of the President of the United States, which intensifies the economic war and seeks to further tighten the illegal and immoral collective punishment of the Cuban people.
This provision once again undermines the sovereignty and self-determination of our country, while further internationalizing and in extreme form the siege, by pressuring and threatening third parties with additional secondary sanctions to prevent them from carrying out financial or commercial operations with Cuba.
As if this genocidal policy against the Cuban people, imposed more than six decades ago, were not enough, recent statements by the occupant of the White House accentuate the warlike escalation by threatening to militarily attack Cuba.
Our people will continue to defend the political system that is sovereignly recognized in the Constitution, approved in a universal referendum by the broad majority of the Cuban people. It is an unquestionable decision to continue building a socialist society that strives to achieve the greatest possible social justice.
The Cuban people have just reaffirmed their support for independence, the socialist Revolution, and the Revolutionary Government with the “Signature for the Homeland” of more than six million people, 81% of those over 16 years of age.
Cuba has historically demonstrated its firm commitment to peace. We reaffirm the principles of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, signed by Heads of State and Government in Havana on the occasion of the Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) held in January 2014.
Just a few hours ago, the firm step of more than five million men and women filled streets and squares during the celebration of International Workers’ Day, committed to the defense of the Homeland and its sovereignty, in the face of the enemy that threatens and attacks it.
We, Cuban deputies representing the people, call upon parliamentarians around the world to raise their voices to stop the military threat and the growing economic and energy siege of the United States government against Cuba.
Participants in the recent International Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, held in Havana on May 2, agreed that our Homeland has the right to live in peace, to defend itself, and to develop; and that solidarity with it cannot be blocked.
The Final Declaration of the Meeting praised the peace vocation of the Largest of the Antilles, agreed to denounce the escalation of the current U.S. Administration, and to multiply resistance and support in favor of Cuba in the year of the Centennial of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.
Long live peace! No to war!
The Homeland is defended!
Homeland or death, we shall overcome!
