Mr. President,
Cuba is honored to deliver this Joint Statement on behalf of 68 countries.
International solidarity is a fundamental principle of International Law and an essential tool for preventing and overcoming global challenges.
It contributes to promoting the realization of all human rights and addressing national challenges in this regard. It is a key component in implementing the right to development and ensuring the full enjoyment of economic, social, and cultural rights.
International solidarity requires concrete actions and genuine commitment from all. We call upon States, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations to integrate the right of peoples and individuals to international solidarity into their actions.
We emphasize that the adoption by the Human Rights Council of a Declaration on the Right to International Solidarity, followed by its endorsement by the United Nations General Assembly, would be a significant step toward building a more just and equitable world and strengthening cooperation for the promotion and protection of all human rights.
We urge States and other relevant stakeholders to actively and constructively participate in the consultations to be held in October and November 2025 and in early 2026, as part of a transparent and inclusive process to make the Declaration on the Right to International Solidarity a reality in the coming year.
All individuals and peoples are entitled to both extend and receive international solidarity.
Thank you.
