Statement by the Delegation of Cuba during the Universal Periodic Review of Paraguay

Mr. President,

We warmly welcome the delegation of the Republic of Paraguay.

In a constructive spirit, we make the following recommendations:

1. Take urgent measures to eradicate harassment, intimidation, and attacks against peasant leaders, environmental defenders, Indigenous peoples, and journalists.
2. Strengthen measures to address child poverty, as well as child abuse and sexual exploitation.
3. Establish effective public policies to reverse low public investment in health and the lack of access to treatments, supplies, and medicines.
4. Undertake effective actions to combat structural discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, as well as hate speech against LGBTI persons.

We wish Paraguay success in this review and in the implementation of these recommendations.
