Mr. Chair, distinguished delegates,
Allow me to refer to an issue of utmost importance for our country and the region.
Cuba is facing one of the most serious situations in its history. My country is under the threat of direct military aggression by the Government of the United States, under false pretexts.
Since January 29, the United States has imposed a total fuel blockade against Cuba, adding to an already intensified economic blockade.
This action is causing extraordinary harm to our people and to every Cuban family, with a severe impact on our health system.
It affects the lives of millions of people; it harms our children, the elderly, and the sick. It is causing serious humanitarian damage and extreme hardship for Cuban families.
Cuba will endure. On behalf of our people, I convey our gratitude and deep appreciation to all those who are offering their valuable support and solidarity to Cuba in these difficult times.
