This event is totally lacking legitimacy and its holding should have never been allowed on the premises of the United Nations as it violates the Charter of the Organization, its purposes and principles. It is intended as an attack on Cuba and constitutes an affront to our sovereignty, which we will never allow.
This event constitutes a political comedy of the worst taste, staged on fallacious arguments and with supporting actors of dark record at the service of a foreign power, which pays them abundantly to subvert the constitutional order established legitimately by the Cuban people in the exercise of their free right to self-determination.
The United States lacks the morals to give lessons in terms of human rights. It has a pattern of systematic violations of all human rights, including the use of torture, arbitrary detention and deprivation of liberty, as is the case of Guantánamo Naval Base, a territory of our people that has been illegally occupied; the murder and abuse of African-Americans by police officers; the death of civilians by their intervention and occupation forces; the increase of supremacist ideas, racial discrimination and xenophobia; and the imprisonment of migrant children. The latter would have rightly justified the name of “Jaled for What?”.
Lift the blockade against Cuba, which is INDEED a flagrant and systematic violation of the human rights of an entire people!
Cuba condemns and rejects in the strongest possible terms this new anti-Cuban action by the United States Government.
They will never bring us to our knees. The Cuban revolutionary diplomacy, inheritor of the legacy of our historic leader Fidel Castro Ruz, is here to defend the dignity and sovereignty of the heroic Cuban people.
