We strongly denounce and condemn the executive order issued by the United States administration on 30 June 2025, which is an amended reissue of Presidential National Security Memorandum No. 5 against the Cuban people and society.
This document seeks to expand and reinforce the criminal and ruthless policy of economic, commercial, and financial blockade, which is an economic war by the United States government against the people and government of Cuba.
The Memorandum has been the political platform of the current administration, which has promoted the almost total ban on travel to Cuba, the obstruction of remittances and the persecution of fuel supplies to our country.
This, combined with numerous other measures such as the absurd inclusion of Cuba on the arbitrary list of countries that support international terrorism, makes it easier for them to intimidate governments, banking institutions, and companies in various countries into not doing business with Cuba.
All of this is in addition to the propaganda campaign and attempts to discredit Cuba, for which there is an international network that brings together many of the main print, television, radio and Internet mass media outlets.
The people of Cuba, as they have done for more than six decades, will resist, will not be intimidated and, under the leadership of the revolutionary leadership, will continue their efforts in defence of sovereignty, independence, social justice and the construction of a fair, egalitarian and democratic society.
For more than six consecutive decades, the United States government has systematically attacked our country, in flagrant violation of the UN Charter, the OAS Charter and international law, using all available means, with the exception of direct aggression by its armed forces.
However, this illegal, arrogant and abusive policy has provoked almost unanimous condemnation from the overwhelming majority of the international community every year for three decades at the United Nations General Assembly, which, in addition to representing the majority of the world's governments, includes all of the United States' allies, with the exception of Israel.
It appears that the current administration has left the implementation of the policy of aggression against Cuba in the hands of Secretary of State Marcos Rubio, representative of the most aggressive and recalcitrant sectors of the increasingly reduced anti-Cuban mafia, associated with illicit enrichment, drug trafficking and many other national and international crimes, including terrorism.
Secretary Rubio has had, among other things, the ‘brilliant idea’ of threatening Caribbean governments that collaborate with Cuba in the health sector, which has made it possible to provide adequate medical care to tens and perhaps hundreds of thousands of citizens, saving lives and decisively helping the countries of the region to effectively confront the Covid-19 pandemic.
Recently, through their ‘coercive diplomacy,’ they also succeeded in getting the mercenary Rosa María Payá elected to chair the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, which of course seeks to reinforce the Commission's hostile positions against Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua in particular.
We firmly and categorically reject the Presidential Memorandum on National Security against Cuba and support the positions expressed by Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in response to it.
Long live free Cuba!
No to the blockade and imperialist aggression!
Homeland or death!
We shall overcome!
