Statement of Solidarity with Cuba
The Communist Party of Norway (NKP) expresses our full solidarity with the people and government of Cuba in the face of the latest escalation of aggression by the United States government.
The attempt to impose a total blockade on Cuba’s fuel supplies is a cruel and unlawful act of collective punishment. It deepens an already brutal economic siege that for more than 65 years has sought to strangle Cuba’s sovereignty, undermine its independence, and inflict suffering on its people.
The justifications offered by the US authorities are built on falsehoods. Cuba is not a threat to peace or regional stability. On the contrary, it is the policy of coercion, blackmail, and unilateral sanctions pursued by the US that constitutes the real threat to peace, international law, and the right of peoples to self-determination.
We strongly condemn the use of economic warfare, extraterritorial sanctions, and threats of punitive tariffs to force other countries to comply with a universally rejected blockade policy. Such actions violate international law and the basic principles of equality between nations.
We reaffirm our opposition to the blockade in all its forms and demand its immediate and unconditional lifting. Cuba has the right to develop freely, choose its own social system, and live without external aggression.
Hands off Cuba! End the blockade now!
