Statement in support of Cuba from the PHILCUBA Association of the Philippines in the current context of US aggression

Manila, January 30, 2026. The Embassy of Cuba expresses its gratitude to the supportive friends of the PHILCUBA Association in the Philippines for their Declaration of support for Cuba in the current context of the escalating US aggression against our people, and in tribute to the 32 Cuban combatants who fell in Venezuela in the line of duty.

In their statement, the members of PHILCUBA affirmed that the U.S. has embarked on imposing regime change wherever a government does not serve the wishes or designs of the US ruling elite. It is no longer new to hear of US military forces invading a country, abducting or killing the head of state, or waging war against people charting their future.

They also stated that: Beyond grieving, the Philippines-Cuba Cultural and Friendship Association (PHILCUBA) honors the Cubans who were wounded or killed in defense of Venezuela's sovereignty. The heroism of Cuba’s 32 military soldiers in the face of an overwhelmingly powerful enemy should be engraved in our memory. They are patriots who defended against the same power that has been strangling their own country for over 60 years. Indeed, they are descendants of the great Jose Marti, whose birth we commemorate today, and whose legacy of struggle for colonial freedom and sovereignty continues to inspire the Cuban people.

The Filipino friends demanded:

US, hands off Cuba! Dismantle the economic blockade against Cuba!

No oil blockade against Cuba!

Honor and Glory to the Sons and Daughters of Jose Marti!
