Manila, January 3, 2026. The World Peace Council (WPC) expresses in the strongest way its condemnation to the criminal air attack and invasion of the US military in the capital of Venezuela as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
The weeks long deployment of the US Navy in the Caribbean Sea, the threats and claims for the natural wealth of the country, escalated today in a “gangster-style” operation which led to brutal interference and criminal capture of the President Nicolas Maduro and his wife by US forces. This hijack is the execution of a violent regime change for which the USA are well-known throughout their history. It is the application of the reactionary “Monroe Doctrine” of the USA which considers Latin America as their backyard.
The WPC rejects and denounces to the peace-loving forces of the world this flagrant violation of every sense of International Law by US imperialism. We call upon our members and friends to mobilize against this aggression and express the solidarity with the Venezuelan people who are the only to decide about their destiny and their wealth without foreign interference, threats and aggressions.
We demand the withdrawal of the US military from the region!
