Strengthening ties of solidarity: Cuban Ambassador visits the headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress

Abuja, January 16, 2025 – The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Nigeria, Miriam Morales Palmero, paid a visit to the headquarters of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), the largest trade union organization in Nigeria and West Africa. During the meeting, she had a fruitful exchange with the president of said organization, Comrade Joe Ajaero, as well as with other executives and historical trade union leaders who were present.

At the meeting, the deep historical relationship between Cuba and the NLC was highlighted, an organization that has been a firm ally of the Cuban Revolution and has tirelessly supported the struggle of the Cuban people, especially in the battle waged for more than 60 years against the unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the island.

During the exchange, the members of the NLC reaffirmed their love and admiration for Cuba, recognizing its example of resistance and dignity in the international arena. It was also highlighted that a large part of the members of the NLC are part of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, which demonstrates the strength of the ties of brotherhood between both nations.

Ambassador Morales Palmero expressed the most sincere gratitude of the Cuban people and government for the unconditional support of the NLC over the years. She stressed that this friendship is based on common values ​​of social justice, self-determination and the struggle for a more equitable world.

This meeting reaffirmed the mutual commitment to continue strengthening cooperation and solidarity between Cuba and Nigeria, consolidating the historical ties that unite both peoples in the defense of sovereignty and social justice.
