Student delegation visit the Embassy of Cuba in Ghana

A delegation from the International Association of Students of Agriculture and Allied Sciences (IAASP) of the "Kwame Nkrumah" University of Science and Technology, headed by its President, Mr. Richard Adu, visited the Embassy of Cuba; they were received by the Cuban Ambassador, Pedro Luis Despaigne González.

The Cuban diplomat highlighted the historical ties between Cuba and Ghana, forged with the arrival on Cuban soil of men and women forcibly removed from their territories and forced to work in the plantations. He also emphasized how that root of rebellion from Africa has been a component of Cuban nationality. Besides, he pointed out that in Cuba, more than two thousand Ghanaians of both sexes have been trained in different university and technical specialties, and a some of them are working today in the agricultural and livestock sector.

For his part, the student leader expressed his admiration for the work of the Cuban Revolution, for which he announced that he wants to visit that country, to exchange experiences with students of Agricultural Sciences.

In the interview, this addressed aspects such as the impact of the blockade on Cuba’s food production, and the current US-Cuba relations. At the meeting, were also Mrs. Emmanuella Sarfowah Bredu, businesswoman related to the IAASP, and the First Secretary of the Embassy of Cuba, Julio César Sánchez Martínez.
