Student delegation visits the Embassy of Cuba

The Ambassador Pedro Luis Despaigne González received in the Embassy of Cuba a delegation from the University Students’ Association of Ghana (USAG), headed by its President, Mr. Paul Abrokwa.

In his words of welcome, the Ambassador made reference to Cuba's historical ties with Africa, initiated when millions of human beings from that continent were sent to the Americas, to work in conditions of slavery; to diplomatic relations between Cuba and Ghana, which in the current year turn sixty years old. He also updated young leaders about student dynamics in the Greater Antilles, and addressed aspects of professional preparation in Cuban classrooms of young Ghanaians of both sexes, which have their most recent expression with the graduation in July 2019, of 221 new health professionals, and with the arrival of a relay of 200 new students.

The student leaders, thanked the reception, presented the role of their organization within the group of student entities, requested to exchange with Cuban homologous organizations, and expressed interest in deepening the knowledge of the contemporary reality of Cuba.

The USAG delegation was made up of: the Coordinating Secretary, Mr. Joshua Nii Tackie Essel; the Press and Information Secretary, Mr. Jeboah Murdock; the International and the Diaspora Relations Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Odonkor; the Women’s Commissioner, Mrs. Dorothy Mensah. The First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez, also participated in the meeting.
