Between April 23 and 26, 2018, the head of the Caribbean Desk of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Tania Parra Fonseca, visited Barbados as part of a working tour throughout several Caribbean islands, during which she met with the different organizations that make up the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MSC), exchanged on the priorities of the solidarity work with the Cuban Revolution, reiterated the invitation to keep the attendance of the Barbadian friends to the May Day celebrations and to the International Meeting of Solidarity that is shared annually with all the international delegations present, as well as the Continental Solidarity Meeting to be held in July in the Dominican Republic; a recognition was extended to the valuable permanent work of the MSC in support of the US blockade lifting, the return of the US naval base in Guantanamo and the cessation of all kinds of hostility against the Cuban people, resulting from the regime change policy stimulated by Trump Administration. At various times there were fruitful contacts with the Barbados-Cuba Friendship Association, the Pan-Africanist Coalition of Organisations, the Clement Payne Movement, the Israel Lovell Foundation, the Caribbean Chapter of the Network in Defence of Humanity, the Caribbean Movement for Peace and Integration, and several Intellectuals and academic friends of the University of the West Indies - Cave Hill Campus.
