Meeting with the Hon. Mr. Thani Thongphakdi, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in which the historical significance of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, initiated on 5/15/1958, was highlighted.
In the cordial exchange, attended also by officers from the Departments of International Organizations and America and South Pacific, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we reviewed the progress and potential of bilateral cooperation in various fields; especially joint efforts in the medical-pharmaceutical production for the treatment of cancer, diabetes and autoimmune diseases, as a contribution to the Development Strategy 4.0 in Thailand aimed at increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of its socio-economic model in accordance with the national philosophy of sufficient economy.
Cuba’s Report, corresponding to 2018, was presented, pursuant to Resolution 72/4 of the General Assembly of the United Nations on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba .
We agreed on the importance of promoting South-South cooperation and mutual cooperation in the various multilateral forums, such as those related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, the Paris Agreement for confronting Climate Change , the Movement of the Non-Aligned and the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, the latter ratified by the two countries.
