BANGKOK, June 6, 2019.- The new Director General of the American and South Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand, Ambassador Witchu Vejjajiva, welcomed the Cuban Ambassador to Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida, for a meeting at the headquarters of that Ministry.
In the cordial exchange the good path of bilateral relations was confirmed and the mutual will to continue their strengthening was reiterated. The follow-up actions of the outcomes of the political consultation meeting, held in Havana, in April 2016, as well as the progress of bilateral cooperation in various fields of activity were addressed.
The two diplomats discussed the importance of the upcoming ministerial meeting of the Latin America-East Asia Cooperation Forum (FEALAC), to be held in November in the Dominican Republic and assessed the main regional and global international policy issues.
The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Director General, the government and the people of Thailand for the continued support to the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba, being strengthened through the recent activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act and other unilateral measures by the Trump administration.
