Thailand and Cuba assess bilateral South-South cooperation initiatives

Bangkok, March 5th, 2020.- The Director-General of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), Ms. Pattarat Hongtong, met with the Cuban ambassador to the Kingdom of Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida.

The auspicious occasion allowed an in-depth review of the details of the on-going bilateral cooperation actions between Thailand and Cuba in different fields of activity like science, technology, eco-tourism, environment, health care and education.

In the context of the 62nd anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two Nations, the relevance of collaboration in these key sectors was assessed as a meaningful contribution to the successful implementation of national development strategies; to the promotion of South-South cooperation with a view to strengthening technological sovereignty, as well as to the achievement of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Cuban Ambassador thanked the Director-General of TICA for the support of the government and people of Kingdom of Thailand to the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government against Cuba.
