Thailand and Cuba strengthen bilateral relations

Bangkok, 28 September, 2020.- The ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Kingdom of Thailand, Héctor Conde Almeida, held a courtesy meeting with the new ambassador designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Republic of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Paisan Rupanichkij, in which both sides confirmed the good state of bilateral relations and reiterated their mutual will to continue strengthening them, highlighting in particular the historical significance of the 62nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations commemorated on 15 May, 2020.

In the cordial and fruitful exchange, also attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Thai International Cooperation Agency (TICA), the two sides  assessed the progress of bilateral cooperation actions in various fields of activity as well as the importance of joint efforts in multilateral forums in defense of International Law; Multilateralism; the independence, sovereignty and national identity of nations; the promotion of peace and solidarity and the boosting of effective cooperation between peoples; including South-South cooperation.

The Cuban diplomat thanked ambassador Paisan, the government and people of Thailand, for the continued support to the United Nations Resolution on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government against Cuba.
