Oslo, October 16, 2025. Yesterday, October 15, the Third International Meeting of Theoretical Publications of Left-Wing Parties and Movements began in Havana. A transcendental and necessary event bringing together more than 100 delegates from 36 nations, including Odd-Jarl Gerhardsen, editor-in-chief of Friheten, the newspaper of the Communist Party of Norway (NKP).
The meeting opened at the Ñico López University of the Communist Party of Cuba, where political leaders, activists, political scientists, and intellectuals discussed experiences and research on the global challenges being faced by the left.
The first day, the lecture "Information and Media Manipulation. The Left Facing the Challenges of Quantum Artificial Superintelligence,” was presented by Professor Ignacio Ramonet before an audience that included the Cuban President, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez.
Díaz-Canel participated in the debate held after the lecture and emphasized the need to maintain a systematic dialectical exchange among leftist organizations.
The event, which will run until the 17th, is dedicated to the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, which will be celebrated on August 13, 2026, and is sponsored by the magazine Cuba Socialista, the theoretical organ of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC).
A panel session with historians and sociologists will focus on geopolitics and international relations, and several books will be launched on leftist thought and leaders.
The program also includes visits to the Fidel Castro Ruz Center, Casa de Las Américas, and a community in La Lisa municipality.
It also includes a lecture on the impact of the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba, the launch of a special edition of the magazine "Cuba Socialista" and a section dedicated to the Palestinian people. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
