Trade delegation meets with Cuban Ambassador

Islamabad, 17 July 2026. A trade delegation from the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), comprising businessperson Asif Afridi, a member of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce, and politician and diplomatic coordinator Nezam Khan, met with the Cuban Ambassador, Damián Cordero, at the embassy.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral trade links, during which the Pakistani representatives explored the possibility of organising a visit by a delegation from their province to the Cuban Chamber of Commerce to explore the Cuban market, take part in trade events and showcase their domestic products, as well as to assess the potential for importing Cuban products into their territory.

Discussions also centred on the impact of the 11 scholarships that Cuba awards to young Pakistanis to study medicine and other specialists on the island. The visitors expressed their deep gratitude and praised the prestige of the Cuban healthcare system, which has been severely affected by the US blockade. Even under the current conditions, both representatives expressed their interest in extending these scholarship benefits, as well as support for the health and education sectors, to their region, whilst also expressing their intention to foster trade and business cooperation between our peoples.
