Nigeria, April 7th, 2023.- The Cuban ambassador in this country, Clara M. Pulido Escandell was received at the headquarters of the Nigerian Workers' Congress (NLC) by its recently elected president, Comrade Joe Ajaero, this Friday in Abuja.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat reiterated her congratulations after her appointment as president of that important Nigerian trade union organization and delivered a message from her Cuban counterpart, Ulises Guillarte de Nacimiento, general secretary of the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC).
The exchange took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the wonderful existing relations. The moment was propitious to address issues of common interest on the imminent proximity of Workers' Day on May 1, on regional and international news and also on the deep historical ties that unite our union organizations.
The Cuban Ambassador thanked the historic support received from the NLC, base of the Nigerian Solidarity Platform with Cuba, in the fight against the genocidal US blockade against the Caribbean Island.
Ajaero succeeded Comrade Ayuba Wabba, whose term as NLC Chairman ended in February 2023. Born on December 17, 1964 in Emekuku Owerri-North, Imo State, Ajaero has been Vice Chairman of the NLC since 2011. He was Secretary General of the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) since 2005.
On the NLC side, Comrade Chris Uyot, Vice Secretary General of the organization, was also present, and on the Cuban side, Counselor Pavel Bauzá Fusté accompanied the ambassador.
