Traditional rulers highlight historical ties between Ghana and Cuba

The Ambassador of Cuba to Ghana, Pedro Luis Despaigne González, received a delegation of traditional rulers at the Embassy's, led by the Tuffourhene, Nana Baah Odidwour Kokroko III, and the President of the Queen Mothers Association, Nana Ama Serwaa Bonsu I, who will visit Cuba in 2008.

The traditional rulers, after thanking the Ambassador for their welcome, emphasized the historical ties between Ghana and Cuba, and recognized how the island of Antillean has collaborated in the training of many young Ghanaians as professionals. They also explained that they as a social institution play an important role in the formation of new generations.

The Cuban Ambassador said he was honored by the presence in the diplomatic headquarters of the representatives of the Ghanaian tradition, and stressed that in the current year, coinciding with the year of the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations more than 200 young Ghanaians will finish their studies of Medical Sciences in Cuba.

Were members of the delegation, the Treasurer of the Queen Mothers Association, Nana Gyansiwaah Akua, the Adviser of that organization, Nana Sesah II, and the traditional chiefs, Nana Sompahene and Nana Ahenkwaah. For the Embassy of Cuba were present at the meeting, the First Secretary, Julio César Sánchez, and the Higher Level Specialist I, Raisa Burón Anglada.
