Training in ethical and secure digital skills is being strengthened for new generations of Cubans.

Geneva, July 9, 2025. Cuban First Deputy Minister of Communications, Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández, spoke at the High-Level Panel of the World Conference on the Information Society, entitled: Moral Pixels: Painting an Ethical Landscape in the Information Society.

He addressed the need to adopt clear policies to promote responsible and secure digital citizenship, establishing a strategic framework that prioritizes education in digital technologies.

The Cuban government continues to consolidate its commitment to the development of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), which is fundamental to the country's social and economic transformation.

In the session on digital citizenship, within the framework of this Summit, the First Deputy Minister reaffirmed the country's ongoing commitment to preparing new generations to face the challenges of the digital environment in an ethical, safe, and conscious manner.

He also affirmed the need for "the development of digital skills with social and ethical values ​​to ensure that new generations can use ICTs safely and with social responsibility."

During the panel, he emphasized the Cuban educational context, which includes the implementation of pedagogical modalities at all levels, facilitating the acquisition of digital skills through the mediation of technology.

Cuba's ongoing work in training responsible digital skills reaffirms its commitment to building an informed and aware citizenry capable of facing the challenges of the digital society from an ethical and socially inclusive perspective.
