Tribute to the Commander-in-Chief at a book launch in Windhoek

As part of the program of tributes to the Commander-in-Chief in the centenary of his birth, Ambassador Sergio Vigoa de la Uz participated in the presentation of the book "The journey that was," which took place in the katutura neighborhood, a town located 15 kilometers from windhoek.

The book, by Namibian writer Andrew Tuhafeni Fandjibi, narrates passages from the author's time in Cuba, where he received his academic training beginning in 1980, when he arrived at the basic secondary school at camp Hendrik Witbooi, located on the Island of Youth.

“I dedicate this book to the heroic people of Cuba. Thanks to Cuba for everything it has done for me. Long live Fidel,” wrote, in clear spanish language, Tuhafeni Fandjibi in the dedication, after thanking the Ambassador for his presence and expressing his infinite gratitude to the Commander-in-Chief and Founding Father of Namibia, Sam Nujoma, for being instrumental in the education of thousands of Namibian children and young people in our country.

The meeting, attended by a group of the author's friends and classmates, served to pay tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution and reaffirm the commitment of the Namibian people to our revolution.

“This man ended up in Cuba, where he studied with other Namibians. He is a man who values, loves, and understands Cuba and its heroic people. He is a man who, if he had the power, would free Cuba from the unjust economic blockade imposed by the United States and its allies,” wrote the author on the back cover of the work, which will soon be released in a spanish version.

The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to share with supportive friends from Cuba and reaffirmed the bonds of solidarity that unite both peoples. “It is very moving to hear anecdotes from your time in our homeland. Andrew is a clear example of what Cuba represented in the lives of many Namibians. These bonds of brotherhood that unite us are part of the legacy of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and our beloved Sam Nujoma,” he concluded.
