Tribute to Fidel to mark the centenary of his birth.

Oslo, 13 August 2026. Once again, the square in front of the iconic building housing the Norwegian Parliament was the setting for a public demonstration in solidarity with Cuba.
Friends mobilised by the solidarity association Cubaforeningen i Norge, other like-minded organisations and political activists gathered to pay a well-deserved public tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz to mark the centenary of his birth.
Ane Hoel, chair of Cubaforeningen i Norge, highlighted in her speech Fidel’s journey from his days as a young lawyer, the attacker at the Moncada Barracks and the guerrilla fighter in the Sierra Maestra, to becoming a statesman of global stature.
This was followed by speeches from representatives of the Red Party, Peace and Justice, the Communist Party, and the Anti-War Initiative, all of whom highlighted the career of the leader of the Cuban Revolution and reaffirmed their firm solidarity with the Revolution in the face of the US government’s aggressive policy, which seeks to economically strangle Cuba and keeps the threat of military aggression ever-present.
