Oslo, August 18, 2025. This Saturday, under the Martí´s premise that "in honoring, we honor," friends of Cuba in Norway gathered to pay a sincere tribute to Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of his birth.
After a brief introduction by the Cuban ambassador, Maité Rivero Torres, those present had the opportunity to watch the documentary film by Mundo Latino "The achievement is to be alive", supported by real facts and irrefutable evidence of CIA plots to assassinate Fidel and overthrow the Revolution, and based on the book of the same name by Cuban journalist and writer Luis Báez.
As part of the tribute, on behalf of the Norway-Cuba Friendship Association, its president, Olga Valentina Osses, presented the Ambassador with two beautiful frames made by her with images of the Commander-in-Chief, fruits of her artistic concerns and skill in crafts.
The Cuban diplomat took the opportunity to explain that last August 13th marked the beginning of a special program to commemorate the centenary of Fidel in 2026, which aims to achieve a great mobilization, not only in Cuba but throughout the world, around the figure of a leader who transcended borders. "Fidel lives among us; therefore, let us celebrate from now on his one hundred years together" she stated.
The recitation of the final part of the poem "Triumphal March of the Rebel Army", by Jesús Orta Ruiz, El Indio Naborit, served to close the moving activity. (Embassy of Cuba in Norway)
