Colombo, November 25, 2023. Organized by the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba and the Cuban embassy, an event of remembrance and tribute to the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, was held on the seventh anniversary of his death, which is commemorated this November 25.
At the event, headed by the Cuban ambassador to Sri Lanka, Andrés González Garrido, and by Chiththadhamma Rathnamudali, President of the Association of Sri Lankan Graduates in Cuba, a well-deserved tribute was paid to Fidel's legacy and his historical relevance.
The ambassador recalled the validity of Fidel's thoughts and his ideas of cooperation with other countries that were evident with the training of foreign students in Cuba through scholarships and courses in Cuban institutions.
For his part, Rathnamudali signified the influence of Fidel's thoughts on each of the graduates in Cuba and the gratitude of all to this leader and the Revolution.
Several graduates from Cuba expressed their great gratitude to Fidel, and what it has meant to them to have been educated in this country.
Cuban citizens residing in Sri Lanka were also present.
Flowers were placed in the bust of Fidel and the flags of Cuba and Sri Lanka.
A worthy tribute to the one who taught the path of good, justice and freedom.
