Convened by the New Star Group and other organizations that make up the solidarity movement with Cuba in Greece, a heartfelt tribute to the Cuban National Hero José Martí was held to commemorate the 127th anniversary of his fall in combat, fighting for the independence of his homeland.
In the event, held in an Athenian theater, various speakers, representing the Hellenic-Cuban Organization of Friendship of Athens, the Greek Committee CUBA IS NOT ALONE-Nobel to Cuban doctors, the Greek Committee for International Democratic Solidarity, EEDDA, and others highlighted the trajectory and work of Martí, as well as the importance of his pro-independence, profoundly anti-imperialist and Latin American thinking.
The Ambassador of Cuba in Greece also delivered brief words highlighting the legacy left by Martí to the new generations of Cubans and praising the innumerable signs of friendship and solidarity that are permanently present between the peoples of Greece and Cuba.
After the political act, the film ¨El Ojo del Canario¨ subtitled in Greek was shown.
