The Cuban Embassy in the Republic of Türkiye organized a tribute to the Cuban National Hero, José Martí, on the occasion of the 170th anniversary of his birth in the park that bears his name in the city of Ankara.
Present at the tribute were a representative of the municipality of Çankaya (where the monument to the Cuban national hero is located), members of the Association of Friendship with Cuba "José Martí"; a representation of the Cuban community based in this city and members of the Cuban diplomatic mission. At the beginning of the activity, a wreath was placed in front of the statue of the independence hero in the monument dedicated to him in the city of Ankara.
The Counselor of the Embassy, Luis Javier Cabañas Álvarez, together with one of the members of the board of directors of the Association of Friendship with Cuba, and the president of the Association of Cubans in the city of Ankara, spoke during the simple tribute, highlighting relevant aspects of the life and work of the apostle. During the speeches, they also demanded the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US government on the Cuban people.
