Tribute for July 26 in The Bahamas.

Nassau, July 26, 2022. The Cuban State Mission in The Bahamas together with the Ministry of Health and Wellness of this country carried out an emotive political-cultural activity for the 69th Anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Barracks.

Dedicated to highlighting the achievements of Cuban health throughout the Revolution, particularly during the pandemic, and to recognizing collaborators in the sector, the occasion was also propitious to honor and bid farewell to the Henry Reeve Cuban Medical Brigade, which concludes its meritorious work of emergency support against COVID-19.

The Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. Michael Darville, the Permanent Secretary, Colin Higgs, among other directors and representatives of that sector in the country, were present.

The Bahamian Minister, in a broad speech, highly valued to carry out the act on the significant date for Cuba, transmitting a message of thanks from Prime Minister Philip Davis for assisting them at the critical moment that the country needed it, despite the scenario facing the Cuban people with a global crisis, a pandemic and a tightened blockade.

The Minister also criticized the report presented by the United States Government on human trafficking, which also refers to the Henry Reeve Brigade in The Bahamas, and reiterated the gratitude of his people and all health institutions for the meritorious work carried out and the current commitment to maintain and extend cooperation in this and other sectors.

He delivered certificates of recognition to the nursing staff and highlighted the work of pharmacy professionals and biomedical engineers, especially Dr. Lorenzo Pérez Sánchez, for his performance and results at the head of the Cuban Collaboration in the country.

The Cuban Ambassador in his speech, among other aspects, referred to the significance of the date, its mark on the achievement of the revolutionary triumph, as well as the commitment of the Cuban Government and people, who with their President and First Secretary of the PCC at the head are continuators of the legacy of the revolutionaries of that time.

He signified the Cuban current scenario and the constant war to discredit its efforts and results, highlighting the contribution of Cuban science with its vaccines against the pandemic for the well-being of its people and others in the world.

He thanked the opportunity to share this historic date for Cuba with the express recognition of the Bahamian Government and people to the emerging Brigade that contributed to confronting the pandemic in the sister country.

Likewise, he recognized the accompaniment of the Bahamian Government and people, in the battle to end the blockade that has been exercised against the Cuban people for more than six decades, and denying the campaigns against Cuban collaboration abroad. Kindly, he asked the Minister to convey to his Prime Minister the gratitude for his message and the commitment to continue developing bilateral ties for the benefit of both peoples.

The coordinator of the Nursing Brigade and one of its members intervened to thank the health institutions and point out how much they contributed in their knowledge and practical experience.

A Cultural gala performance by Cuban health professionals moved those present to listen to the declamation of the poem "Era la Mañana de la Santa Ana" by Indio Naborí, and the interpretations of songs such as "Saberse Cubanos" by Kiki Corona and a violin solo with the song " Te seré fiel".

With Fidel written in their hands and present in the hearts of the participants, the activity became a platform to cheer Fidel, the centenary generation and the heroism of the Cuban people.

The activity, which took place at the Hotel Breeze, which for six months welcomed the Henry Reeve Brigade as a home, closed with a reception that allowed the Minister to talk with each Cuban collaborator and to exchange points of view about the particularities of their professions and work, with the detail of leaving countless snapshots with each of them.
