“How come someone likes him, who advocated for peace and made respect for others, an art of life, was able to devote the last years of his short existence to organizing a war, which he called necessary, for the independence of Cuba? How come a man, without military training was able to summon and lead to the major war for the sovereignty of Cuba, to generals from previous wars and a people that ended up being forged under the cry of freedom and the temper of machetes? A people who it is worth to remember that learned not to give up in the defense of its sovereignty and self-determination”, emphasized the official.
