Georgetown, January 28, 2020. The Embassy of Cuba in Guyana held an emotional ceremony in honor of José Martí in the afternoon, attended by health collaborators, Cuban residents, diplomatic mission officials and Guyanese students :Sabrina Hernández , Nicol Gomes and Abigail Davis from Richard Ishmael School.
Ambassador Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro referred to Martí as the National Hero, the Apostle, the Master, whose best disciple was the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, not only for his profound knowledge of his life and work, but for having led the Revolution that made its revolutionary ideals come true. Therefore, said the Cuban diplomat, paying tribute to Martí is also honoring Fidel's memory as the main continuator of the Apostle's work.
The Ambassador condemned the impious attempts to profane the image of the National Hero, which he said, they will never achieve, and stressed the need to make Marti's call to “walk in a tight box like silver in the Andes roots to prevent pass the giant of the seven leagues ”
Guyanese student Sabrina Hernández, representing her classmates, read excerpts from the Apostle's biography.
At the conclusion of the event a bouquet of white roses was placed in the bust of our National Hero at the headquarters of the Embassy
