Tribute paid in Guyana to the National Heroe of Cuba

Guyana, January 28, 2021. Cuban and Guyanese workers from the Cuban Embassy, along with a representation of the Medical Collaboration Brigade, paid tribute to the National Hero of Cuba, José Julián Martí Pérez, on the one hundred and sixty-eight years of his birth.

Ambassador Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the Chief of the Medical Brigade. Dr. Ineldo Ruíz Arcia placed the traditional white roses before the bust that perpetuates the memory of the Master located at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission in Georgetown.

Dr. Ruíz Arcia together with a group of health collaborators performed the historical moment in which Martí asked the General Máximo Gómez to join the new libertarian feat, the continuation of that initiated in 1868 and defended for ten bloody years, a transcendental fact in the history of Cuba that symbolizes the union of the new pines with the old and unbending mambises.

Expressing his homage to the Master, the Chief of the Medical Brigade remembered Martí as the Master, the man of infinite sensitivity, who was always at the side of the poor on earth and who considered that exercising of the medical profession should be practiced with no monetary interest.

The Ambassador summoned all present to continue the legacy of Marti and expressed gratitude to friends of solidarity with Cuba, especially former President Donald Ramotar, who, coinciding with the 168th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle, sent a letter to the Editor of the Guyana Times newspaper, in which he praises the solidarity work of the Cuban people, their health professionals and asks the new President of the United States of America to lift the blockade against Cuba.
