THE BAHAMAS, 28th October 2016. –This afternoon members of the Cuban Mission in The Bahamas met at Montagu Beach in the Bahamian capital to pay tribute to the Commander of the Rebel Army Camilo Cienfuegos, one of the emblematic figures of the Cuban Revolution.
Diplomats and representatives of various Cuban entities currently in Nassau threw flowers into the sea marking the 57th anniversary of his physical disappearance. This ritual obeys to a traditional gesture of remembrance to the "Lord of the Vanguard", as Camilo was named by his comrades.
For her part, the Ambassador of Cuba to The Bahamas, Ismara Vargas Walter, recalled the hero of the Revolution as the man of the people, the tireless combatant and with sadness evoked one of the most painful moments for Cuba. She encouraged the little ones in attendance to study about Camilo Cienfuegos.
Cuban pioneers who were present recited poems to pay tribute to Camilo, as a sign of respect to the new Cuban generations to its history, its traditions and its heroes.
Every 28 October, Cuban pioneers, youngsters and the Cuban people in general pay tribute to the “Lord of the Vanguard” in different points of the Cuban geography.
