New York, January 28th, 2024.- As is customary, every January 28, and despite the persistent rain, the group of the Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations paid tribute to the National Hero José Martí before his monument erected in the Central Park of this city.
During the tribute, Ambassador Gerardo Penalver Portal, first vice minister of Foreign Affairs and permanent representative of Cuba to the United Nations, evoked the thoughts of the Master and the validity of his work, as an indispensable heritage of the Cuban people for the battles of the present and the future.
The children and young people of the Mission also remembered Martí in a simple ceremony held at the diplomatic headquarters. As part of this tribute, a group of pioneers received, for the first time, their kerchief.
