The triumph of the Cuban Revolution was highlighted in Barbados

With the attendance of senior Barbadian government officials headed by the Hon. Senator and Chancellor Maxine McClean and two other ministers of state in the Office of the Prime Minister, as well as the Leader of the Opposition, Mia Mottley, several members of Parliament, member organizations of the Solidarity Movement with Cuba, academics, intellectuals, businessmen and representatives of the diplomatic corps and of the regional and international agencies resident in the country, the Cuban State Mission in Barbados celebrated the 58th Anniversary of the Triumph of the Revolution, in which The achievements of the Cuban people, the work of its historic leader, Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, and the legacy of the National Hero, José Martí, on the 164th Anniversary of his birth, were highlighted. The cultural section was a special performance of "Cuban Ensemble", a musical group comprised by BCC talented music students, who performed in Spanish anthological numbers of the Cuban music, including a tribute to Che and Fidel with the Song "Hasta Siempre, Comandante", by popular singer Carlos Puebla.

Barbadian Chancellor in representation of the Government of his country highlighted the altruism of the Cuban Revolution, the culture of resistance and solidarity of its people, the vocation of international cooperation cultivated by Commander Fidel, the will of his government to continue strengthening bilateral relations To take them to higher levels, as well as their willingness to coordinate actions in the preparatory process for the upcoming CARICOM-Cuba Summit, to be held on 8 December in Antigua and Barbuda.

For his part, the Cuban Ambassador highlighted in his conclusions the special of this occasion, for being the first celebration without the physical presence of his invincible historical leader but with the accompaniment of his legacy, which is conjugated and complemented by the universality of Marti´s thought; both shaping the foundational and philosophical foundations of the Cuban revolutionary and national work. He also highlighted the most important events that coincide with this celebration, including the recently concluded V Summit of CELAC and the call for regional unity reiterated by Cuban President Raúl Castro, the next ministerial meetings of the ACS and CARICOM to be held in Havana in March and the sixth CARICOM-Cuba Summit, forums in which his government is working hard to honor the commitments made in its fruitful cooperation with the sub region. Finally, diplomat Fernandez said that this is the starting point for several joint activities to be held this year, marking the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Barbados, which coincides with the celebration of CARICOM-Cuba Day, on December 8th.
