Truth is beneath contempt for Anti-Cuban politicians and congressmen.

Official Communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba

With the usual manipulation of the political system in the United States, a couple of anti-Cuban congressmen managed to get the Republican Party to approve in the House of Representatives, where it has a majority, a legislation on State Department spending that is aimed at perpetuating the arbitrary and unjustified classification of Cuba as a State that allegedly sponsors terrorism.

In practical terms, this means that, if passed, it would prohibit the State Department from spending financial resources to stop lying, that is, to correct Cuba's unjust classification, in the event that the White House were willing to do so, something about which there is not the slightest evidence.

Numerous governments and voices from the international community, especially from Latin America and the Caribbean, and various political and social organisations in the United States itself have been calling on the US government for years to correct this injustice, and have done so repeatedly, including in recent days and weeks.

The response of the anti-Cuban legislators, using familiar corrupt and gangsterish methods, has been to mobilise the entire Republican delegation in the House to pass this legislation. They are taking advantage of the hypocritical and demagogic behaviour of the current US administration, which has maintained the unjust designation as an aggressive tool of maximum economic pressure against the living standards of Cubans.

The conduct of both anti-Cuban legislators and the State Department itself is indicative of the contempt of US politicians, first and foremost, for the truth; but also for the slightest sense of justice, and for the expressions and claims of all those in the world and within the United States who have long trusted the current Democratic administration to do the right thing in the face of logical, fair and irrefutable arguments.
