Turkish Filmmakers and Activists to Participate in Solidarity Action “Nuestra América Convoy to Cuba”

The Consulate General of Cuba in Istanbul welcomed the renowned Turkish filmmakers and activists Ruken Tekes and Necmi Sancak, who are coordinating Türkiye’s participation in the international solidarity action “Nuestra América Convoy to Cuba.”

During the fraternal meeting, both parties exchanged views on the preparations for this important initiative, which is scheduled to bring together on March 21 in Havana supporters from various regions of the world. The initiative aims to raise a strong and collective voice against the genocide being attempted against the Cuban people through the policy of blockade and economic suffocation imposed by the government of the United States.

The Turkish filmmakers reaffirmed the commitment of broad sectors of Türkiye’s civil society—including artists, intellectuals, and social movements—to the Cuban cause and the defense of peoples’ right to self-determination. They also highlighted the importance of coordinating cultural and communication actions that help raise awareness of the Cuban people’s reality and denounce the inhumane nature of unilateral coercive measures.

For his part, the Consul General of Cuba in Istanbul, Raúl E. Madrigal Cárdenas, expressed gratitude for the historic solidarity of the Turkish people and acknowledged the organizational effort that will allow Türkiye to be represented with dignity in this international action in Havana.
