The Turkish newspaper Aydınlık (Enlightenment) published yesterday an interview with the Consul General of the Republic of Cuba in Istanbul, in which the growing escalation of political aggressiveness by the Government of the United States against Cuba is denounced.
The interview was published under the title “TEHDİTLERE BOYUN EGMEYE HİÇ NİYETİMİZ YOK” (“We have no intention of bowing to threats”), clearly reflecting the firm position of the Cuban State in the face of pressure, threats, and hostile actions promoted from Washington.
During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat outlined the main manifestations of the United States’ aggressive policy toward Cuba, including the intensification of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade, disinformation campaigns, and attempts to internationally isolate the Island. He also reaffirmed the will of the Cuban people and Government to defend their sovereignty, independence, and right to decide their own destiny.
The publication of this interview in Aydınlık is of particular importance, as it contributes to a greater understanding—among the Turkish and international public—of Cuba’s reality and of the effects of U.S. policy against the Cuban people. At the same time, it highlights the solidarity existing in Turkey with just causes and the defense of international law.
