Representative of Türkiye, speaking on behalf of the Group of Countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), during the debate currently taking place at the United Nations General Assembly on the need to end the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, reiterated the call for the immediate elimination of the blockade and the exclusion of Cuba from the arbitrary list of state sponsors of terrorism, while highlighting the serious humanitarian and socioeconomic impacts that this policy has on the Cuban people.
He also stressed that the OIC countries support the draft resolution submitted by Cuba to the General Assembly and urged the member states of the Organization to vote in favor of the resolution, as they have done in previous years.
Cuba highly values this show of international solidarity and support, which reflects the OIC countries' historic commitment to justice, international law, and the principles of the United Nations Charter, as well as their constant and supportive backing for the cause of lifting the blockade, which is the main obstacle to the development and well-being of the Cuban nation.
