UAE sends medical aid to Cuba in fight against COVID-19

ABU DHABI, 4th June, 2020 - The United Arab Emirates sent a donation to Cuba consisting of eight tons of medical supplies with the aim of contributing to the country's efforts to confront COVID-19.

The Cuban Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Roberto Blanco, thanks the Emirati government and people for their solidarity contribution to Cuba in these difficult moments of struggle against the Covid-19 pandemic. "The donation is one more example of the very good brotherhood ties between both nations. We greatly appreciate the relations between the two countries, which are becoming stronger every day."

Commenting on the delivery of aid, Bader Abdulla Saeed Almatroshi, UAE Ambassador to Cuba, said: "The UAE and Cuba have forged strong ties in recent years in a show of cooperation that is helping both of our countries overcome the COVID-19 crisis. With today’s delivery of aid, the UAE leadership is sending a message of support and solidarity to Cuba and its frontline workers, many of whom have gone on to volunteer to battle the virus in other countries with immense courage and resolve."

Both, Cuba and the United Arab Emirates, have offered their help to various nations to support the fight against the new coronavirus, convinced that international cooperation is essential to emerge victorious from this battle for health and life.
