Harare, 21 February 2025- The Cuban Communist Youth Union (UJC) sent today greetings to the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) youth organisation on National Youth Day.
The message from UJC National Committee First Secretary Meyvis Estevez to Youth Minister and National Secretary of the young of ZANU-PF, Tinoda Machakaise, reaffirms the brotherhood and historical ties between the two organisations.
I extend my warmest congratulations to the Youth of Zimbabwe on the occasion of the National Day, the document says, recalling the fraternal ties initiated by ‘our historical leaders, and consolidated by our independence and anti-imperialist struggles and ideals’.
We are very sure that this brotherhood will remain strong in the younger generations of the two countries, says Estévez.
The youth and the Cuban people are grateful for your constant expressions of solidarity, in the midst of the country's complex economic situation due to the ruthless tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, says the UJC's top leader.
You will also always count on our firm condemnation of the unilateral coercive measures imposed against the brotherly people of Zimbabwe by the government of the United States.
From Cuba, we wish you a National Youth Day of cheerful, permanent mobilisation and commitment to the homeland, emphasises Estévez, who took the opportunity to invite Machakaise to Cuba for an extensive bilateral exchange programme.
Zimbabwe's National Youth Day celebrations were held in the city of Bulawayo, some 440 kilometres southwest of the capital, led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
