Geneva, February 27, 2026 – In his updated report on the global state of human rights, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, today denounced before the Human Rights Council the negative effects of the aggressive escalation by the United States against Cuba, including restrictions imposed on fuel supplies.
During his presentation, he emphasized the humanitarian impacts of these measures, referring to the effects on treatments for children with cancer and on care for pregnant women.
"Nothing can justify the suffocation of an entire population," the High Commissioner stressed, referring to the criminal policy of an intensified blockade imposed on Cuba.
