The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, announced, through his account on the social network Twitter, that the General Assembly of the United Nations will resume this year the discussion of the Cuban resolution that demands the end of the blockade imposed by the United States. to our archipelago.
The topic "Need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba" was already inscribed on the provisional agenda of the 77th regular session of the international body, which will begin in September 2022 and will run until the same month of 2023.
It will be a new occasion in which the governments of almost all the countries of the world raise their voices and exercise their vote condemning the blockade, an action that the different US administrations have not only not complied with, but have added new coercive measures, such as the 243 established in the mandate of Donald Trump, and that the current president, Joe Biden, maintains intact, despite the commitment to eliminate them, which he raised as one of the flags during his presidential campaign.
The vote on this resolution within the framework of the UN has been one of the most repeated evidences –annually, and for 29 consecutive almanacs– of the colossal disrespect with which the successive governments of the United States disregard the unanimous opinion of the nations against a hostile policy that, in frank defiance and arrogance, only intensifies with increasingly suffocating measures for the Cuban people.
The criminal opportunism with which the United States wanted to take advantage of the terrible effects of the pandemic and the associated world crisis, to further tighten the economic, commercial and financial siege of Cuba, in order to overthrow the Revolution, is a new and irrefutable argument that , on the UN platform, will lay bare the macabre intentions of the empire, by sustaining a blockade that, as a policy, is retrograde, but, due to its impacts, murderous.
