Havana, September 15, 2023- The Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Inger Andersen, is attending the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G77 and China. This visit is historic, as it the first that the Executive Director makes to Havana.
In this framework, Ms. Andersen held bilateral meetings with delegations of interest present at the event, as well as with Cuban authorities, especially with the Minister of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya. About this meeting, the Executive Director expressed in her personal account on X: "True pleasure to meet Elba Rosa Pérez, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, as Cuba hosts G77 meeting. UNEP's collaboration with Cuba covers biodiversity, climate resilience, pollution, circular economy and more. We agreed to further deepen joint work".
