UNISPAL 2023 report urges Israel to comply with UN resolutions and International Humanitarian Law.

New York, August 30, 2023. Today Cuba, in its capacity as vice president of the Committee for the exercise of the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people, UNISPAL, presented the 2023 annual report of said Committee to the General Assembly.

Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso Cuesta said that among the Committee's recommendations is that Israel is required to stop and reverse the ongoing annexation, home demolitions, settlement expansion and the forced displacement of Palestinians, including women and children.

At the same time, Pedroso added, Israel is urged to end the disproportionate use of lethal force and protect Palestinian civilians in accordance with its obligations under relevant UN resolutions and International Humanitarian Law.

On the other hand, the Committee's Report commends Member States for their support of the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) with sustainable measures and asks them to review Israel's use of anti-terrorist legislation. against Palestinian civil society organizations with a view to delegitimizing and undermining their activities.

Likewise thanks the United Nations Division for Palestinian Rights for its support of the work of the Committee and recommends the continuation of the Special Program of the United Nations Department of Global Communications for its public and media awareness efforts. Communication.
