University of Victoria shows interest in promoting exchanges with Cuba

Wellington, December 9th 2015. – During a visit to this institution by Ambassador of Cuba, Mr. Mario Alzugaray, Executive Assistant at the Office of Deputy Vicechancellor, Mr. Kerri Kilner, expressed his interest in the promotion of linkages and cooperation exchanges with Cuban counterparts, especially in the development of joint research projects in areas of common attention.

Both sides exchange information on main fora and events to be hosted both in Cuba and New Zealand during 2016, with the purpose of encouraging direct contact between academicians and professors at different levels from the two countries. Universidad 2016 was distinguished as an appropriate starting point to promote this cooperation, taking into consideration the strong reputation and extraordinary level of both, this congress and the Cuban education system.

Victoria University, founded as Victoria College in 1897, is the most important institution of its class in Wellington, which provides an excellent opportunity of close ties with a wide range of government organisations, condition that has allowed it to make substantial contributions to major government projects. Together in the meeting where also professor Warwick Murray, Director of Victoria Institute for Links with Latin America (VILLA); and Dr. Matthew O´Meagher, Principal Advisor for International Networks and President of Latin America New Zealand Business Council (LANZBC).Embacuba Nueva Zelandia.
